Dr. Susan Nasser

Dr. Susan M. Nasser

“Most doctors say to their patients, You have this disease; and this is what you need to take. What I say is, This is ‘why’ you have this disease; and this is how we are going to take control of it.”

Dr. Susan M. Nasser is a Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) and is Board Certified in Family Medicine. She is one of a few doctors in the Antelope Valley certified by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as an Aeromedical Examiner (AME) to give private and commercial pilot physical exams for 1st, 2nd and 3rd class flight certifications.

Dr. Nasser is highly trained and skilled in family medicine which includes internal medicine and pediatrics, as well as general medicine and geriatrics — from newborns to 90 year olds — from minor illnesses to acute and chronic illnesses.

Patients say that Dr. Nasser is a good listener, shows compassion, and makes them feel comfortable quickly. Dr. Nasser takes pride in having patients say they feel better right away — not just physically, but emotionally. “It can be scary when you don’t know what’s going on with your body,” confirms Dr. Nasser.

Cause & Prevention Philosophies

Dr. Nasser has always leaned toward a “cause and prevention” philosophy in treatment and the “whole person” approach to medicine — instead of just treating patients for a specific symptom or illness, she regards your body as an integrated whole. So Dr. Nasser chose to become a Doctor of Osteopathy, which includes an extra dimension to health care with additional and unique skills.

She has been a long-time advocate of preventive medicine and feels one of the most important roles as a physician involves empowering patients with education related to their overall well-being.

Dr. Nasser also utilizes lifestyle and diet as an important part of overall well-being. She says, “You can also create a healthy state just by changing your diet or activity level.”

Education / Directorships

After graduation from the University of Wyoming in 1995 with a BS degree in Physiology and Zoology, Dr. Nasser earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Degree from Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, California in 2001. She and her husband, Dr. Thomas Nasser of AVORS Medical Group, then journeyed across the country to Toledo, Ohio where she completed a three-year residency in Family Medicine at the Medical College of Ohio.

Since 2005 she has been an active part of the Children’s Center of the Antelope Valley in Lancaster, California and today serves on the Executive Board of Directors.
