Who is Gisela Paredes, DNP with Family First Family Medical Practice?

Gisela Paredes is a Family Nurse Practitioner specializing in providing true patient centered care, meaning her patient’s specific health needs and desired health outcomes are the driving force behind all health care decisions and quality measurements. Gisela practices a full spectrum family practice. She sees patients of all ages, including women’s health, adolescents, adult primary care, and geriatrics. 

Gisela graduated from nursing school in 2016 and during her time working as a nurse in the hospital, she completed her Master of Science in Nursing degree at Chamberlain College of Nursing. In her pursuit to provide top quality care to the community she serves, Gisela recently obtained her Doctors in Nurse Practitioner degree (DNP). She has over fifteen years of healthcare industry experience working in the Surgery Department at Antelope Valley Hospital and thirteen years for a large non-profit hospital.

As daughter of Mexican immigrants, Gisela has first-hand experience working with the Latino community and is intimately aware of cultural, social, and behavioral norms of the community. She works in collaboration with families whenever possible providing compassionate and empathetic care with an emphasis on metal wellness. She also has a strong holistic health approach with an emphasis on patient safety. 
 
Gisela proudly speaks Spanish. She also enjoys health and fitness, outdoor activities, and spending time with her loved ones.

Why is A Doctor of Nursing Practice degree important?

A Doctor of Nursing Practice degree, or DNP, is a terminal degree in nursing, meaning that there is no higher level of education available for practice-based training in nursing. Nurses who have their DNP are sought after for positions in nursing leadership focused on clinical applications and are considered key players in the future of healthcare in the United States.  The Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) is ultimately designed to produce leaders in nursing. Such nurses possess the highest level of nursing expertise and work either in a clinical setting or leadership role upon obtaining the required credentials. They have the knowledge to influence healthcare outcomes through organizational leadership, health policy implementation, and direct patient care.
