Continuous Glucose Monitoring in Palmdale, CA
Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) in the Palmdale, CA

What is Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM)?
Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) is constantly measuring your blood sugar and sending information back to help you and our providers at Family First Family Medical Practice with vital real-time information. This information helps people who have diabetes make decisions about what to eat, how to exercise, and how much medicine they are required to take. Our medical providers also take this information and help you get the highest level care possible in the Antelope Valley. Family First Family Medical Practice uses the Dexcom G6 CGM System and this device allows our patients to see their glucose and where it’s heading without fingersticks.
How does it work?
Family First Family Medical Practice has opportunities to help partner with you to better manage your Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes with the Dexcom G6 CGM System.
Family First Family Medical Practice offers a unique wearable sensor that no one will know you’re wearing. Our CGM features a 10-day wear sensor that is designed to be water resistant and easy to insert with an auto-applicator. Information will be shared with you and our providers in real time and this will help in our partnership with you to understand your blood sugars. Together we can help you achieve optimal health.
- Simple auto-applicator – a one-touch applicator easily inserts a small sensor just beneath the skin.
- Sensor and transmitter – a slim sensor continuously measures glucose levels just beneath the skin and sends data wirelessly to a display device through a transmitter.
- Display device – a small touch screen receiver or compatible smart device† displays real-time glucose data.
Easy to insert the Senor

Who Can Benefit?
Dexcom CGM may be the right choice for:
- patients with type 1 or type 2 diabetes on mealtime insulin
- patients on multiple daily injections (MDI) or an insulin pump
- patients at risk of hypoglycemia
- patients who may be unaware of their hypoglycemia
- patients who want a better way to meet their glycemic goals
- patients experiencing excessive glycemic variability
- patients who may benefit from sharing their glucose data (e.g., children, older adults, etc.)
More Insight Than Monitoring Alone
Unlike a single reading from a blood glucose meter, continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) provides dynamic information about the direction of glucose change, giving your patient continuous and timely feedback on nutrition, activity, and insulin requirements to help make informed diabetes treatment decisions. CGM is a powerful therapy management tool that can inform better diabetes treatment decisions, ultimately leading to tighter glycemic control than using a blood glucose meter alone
