Peter Zhang MD MPH, FAAFP CAQSM 

Dr. Zhang is Board Certified in Family Practice and Fellowship Trained in Sports Medicine. Dr. Zhang brings a unique blend of Board-Certified Family Practice and specialized training with Sports Injuries in his Sports Medicine Fellowship to help patients in the Antelope Valley. His special interests are in men and women’s health, contraception, and integrative medicine with a focus on chronic and complex disease.


Dr. Zhang’s passion for sports medicine includes caring for soccer, football, mixed martial arts, and e-sports athletes. 


Dr. Zhang was born in China and immigrated to the US at a young age. In college, he worked as a health worker in his college dormitory, and then as an MA at an upper extremity orthopedic clinic. From these experiences, he gained a deep appreciation for the invaluable services and impact that physicians can offer to people of all ages and backgrounds through sound medical advice, education, and reassurance. 

As a family medicine physician with special training in sports medicine, his goal is to provide comprehensive and excellent care to all his patients, while also providing expert care for musculoskeletal-related problems. 

Dr. Peter Zhang received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biology from the University of California, Berkeley, and completed a master’s degree in Public Health from Columbia University, New York. He received his medical degree from the University of Maryland, finished a Family Medicine Residency at the University of California, Riverside in Palm Springs where he was Chief Resident and completed a Sports Medicine Fellowship at the University of Texas, Rio Grande Valley. During his education and training he also served as a clinical and professional research assistant at Columbia University, New York and the University of Texas. His passion for learning also helped Dr. Zhang earn the prestigious Intern Resident of the Year while at UCR in Palm Springs. He is Board Certified through the American Board of Family Medicine.


His professional affiliations include The American Medical Society of Sports Medicine (AMSSM), the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), and the Chinese American Medical Sociaty (CAMS). He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians and holds a Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine. In addition, Dr. Zhang has worked with athletes at the high school, Division-1 collegiate and professional levels and is also proficient in Mandarin Chinese. 


During his free time, he enjoys painting, photography, archery, and hiking.
