Dr. Susan Nasser had this to say about celebrating 10 years of service.

"What a journey this past 10 years has been. Familyfirst started as an idea-an idea that we could create a practice centered around family values that could help meet a growing need in our community for healthcare that was “more.” We wanted to create an environment that was more than a “mill” - we didn’t want a practice where patients would come and go without feeling a connection or actually feeling cared for or heard. We have prided ourselves over the years of creating just that- long term connections with families, where we have been able to follow patients through childhood and into adulthood, and adulthood into senior years. What started out as a small practice with 2 providers has now grown to the robust practice it is today with 5 well qualified and caring providers eager to help our patients through health optimization and sometimes challenging diagnoses. The robust practice we now have after 10 years in the Antelope Valley could not have been possible without so many amazing contributors. Our success has been dependent not only on our community, but also on our world class management team and the support of our AVORS team of physicians and staff. Currently Dr. Susan Nasser, Dr. Romeo Castillo, Dr. Peter Zhang, Simarjeet Manocha, Gisela Parades, and starting shortly Michelle Welch practice at Family First.

Operations Manager Midian had this to say about her time with Family First "Our two locations in Lancaster give options to patients who need primary care and want to be treated right.  Patients are welcomed to a warm waiting room and polite staff.  Our goal is to help you come to a medical practice where you feel like family.  Comfortable, treated well, and hopefully feeling like part of a large community family".

This year Family First Family Medical Practice has been working on three projects to improve the level of care in the community. 

1) Family First Family Medical Practice has partnered with a new Family Medicine Residency Program with Palmdale Regional Medical Center now part of Southwest Healthcare.  This offers real medical residents an opportunity to learn Family Medicine and bring teaching medicine to our community.  This will add medical doctors to our community and help offer more accessibility to medically trained professionals.

2) Family First Family Medical Practice has opened a same day clinic to allow expanded services to the community and offer more appointments.  The goal is to staff a primary care from 8:00am to 8:00pm allowing for appointment after the day is done and give more access to healthcare.  We also want patients to avoid going to the ER for simple acute problems like colds, flu, or pediatric ailments.

3) Family First Family Medical Practice hired Dr. Peter Zhang, MD to offer Sports Medicine to local athletes and weekend warriors. Given their background in musculoskeletal medicine, sports medicine physicians often help any patient suffering from certain conditions whether they are a serious athlete or not. They’re also excellent resources for individuals who are just beginning an exercise or training program.
